Trà Móc Câu Đặc Biệt (Premium Moc Cau Green Tea)
The benchmark of northern Vietnamese tea, curled like a fish hook, from selected gardens on the eastern slope of Tam Dao.
Premium Moc Cau Green Tea (Tra Moc Cau) is plucked by hand to the one-bud-one-to-two-leaf standard in the cooperative gardens at La Bang, Thai Nguyen province, northern Vietnam. Every TRAVINA tea is picked by hand; none of it is machine-harvested.

Tasting notes
The dry leaf carries the blue-black sheen that marks good Thai Nguyen tea. In the cup it pours green with a bright golden rim, with young rice (com) on the nose; in the mouth, a clear astringency on the tip of the tongue that turns to a long sweetness.
How to brew Moc Cau green tea
Use about 5 g of leaf for a 250 ml pot. Bring the water off the boil and let it fall to 80-85 C; water at a full boil scalds the leaf and turns the astringency harsh. Rinse the leaf for five seconds and pour that water away, then steep the first infusion for 25-30 seconds, adding five to ten seconds to each infusion after it. Good Moc Cau gives four to five infusions, and the later ones are the sweetest.

Yield and grade
Six to eight kilograms of fresh buds make one kilogram of finished tea.
Certification
This grade is not part of TRAVINA’s 6 Không line, and it is not certified organic. What the cooperative does hold is VietGAP (DVCL-VG-TT-24-19-68), ISO 22000:2018 for the La Bang facility (GOODVN91025.FSMS), food safety licence 14/2025/UBND-NNMT-TNg, registered planting-area code.

Who grows it
TRAVINA is the export brand of Tam Tra Viet Cooperative in Thai Nguyen. Ninety member households farm 40.5 hectares across Dai Tu and La Bang. Every leaf is picked by hand, and every batch is processed at the cooperative’s own facilities.
Where Moc Cau sits in the TRAVINA range
Moc Cau is the everyday benchmark of Thai Nguyen green tea: fine enough to serve guests, priced to drink daily. Above it sit the bud grades, where only the unopened shoot is taken – see Tien Vua Needle Tea for the top of that ladder. If you are buying for gifting rather than for daily drinking, the same leaf appears boxed in Tea Boxes and Gift Sets, and our pesticide-free line is in Trà Sạch 6 Không.
Wholesale and export
The cooperative sells this grade in bulk as well as in retail packing. Minimum order quantity is set case by case against what the season has produced rather than by a fixed table, so tell us the volume and the packing you need. For a formal export order we can supply the VietGAP certificate, the ISO 22000:2018 certificate for the La Bang facility, the food safety licence, the planting-area code and a pesticide residue test report; phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin and HS classification are prepared per shipment.

How to use

- Wake the leaf: cover with hot water, swirl for five seconds and pour it away.
- First infusion: water at about 80 to 85 C. Let boiled water stand two minutes. Steep 20 to 25 seconds.
- Add 10 to 15 seconds for each further infusion. Good leaf gives three to four.
